A Summer Trip to HIROSHIMA

“Kon-ni-chi-wa!”
Hello from Japan!

I have recently started this blog site, but I had been wondering what I should write first. Though some time has passed since I opened this site, first of all, I have decided to recount my summer trip to Hiroshima (Prefecture), hoping that it might be as a log of my memories. Additionally, I do hope this information proves useful for anyone planning a trip to Hiroshima someday in the future.

In the latter half of July this year, I visited Hiroshima with my son during his summer vacation. Even though I have been living in Japan for decades, this was actually my first time to visit Hiroshima. I had always wanted to go there, but never really found the opportunity. It is funny how we often put off visiting places that are not too far away, thinking we can always go later. Maybe, many of you prioritize trips to distant destinations, like foreign countries, because of your feeling that if you miss out once, you might not get another chance.

And, I was finally able to get the chance to visit Hiroshima this summer!!
Ever since the war began between Ukraine and Russia, I have seen on the news many times that a lot of tourists from all over the world have been visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome, which are located within the Peace Memorial Park. I get the sense that many people are taking a moment to reflect on war and, subsequently, on peace once again now.
So, I anticipated that a large number of tourists would be visiting Hiroshima this summer as well.

Well, following this, I’ll go into detail for each day about our “5-night & 6-day trip to Hiroshima”, with some photos.
